Darlington Rock Concert

“A huge congratulations to our band students who performed admirably at last week’s 15th annual Darlington Rock Concert, blasting their way through hit after hit to the amazement of our school and community. I am constantly in awe of some of the musical talent that presents at our school, and it is a privilege to teach and nurture the future generations of instrumentalists and singers in our school. It’s always good to hear and read about past students who have gone on to forge musical careers or pastimes, and Darlington PS has produced many. I have no doubt that this current cohort of students will produce more. Many thanks also to our parents who provide support and encouragement to our students to foster their musical drive and passion. Well done Darlington………you rock!!! Also a big shout out to our school choir who opened proceedings with their performance of “Pompeii” Well done to our School Band and Choir”

“Last Wednesday the school again had the pleasure of being entertained by a talented group of musicians at the annual Darlington Rock concert. The entertainment got off to a sizzling start with the school choir performing Pompeii. That was followed by 20 band members performing a variety of items – some old favourites and some new songs. It was fantastic to see so many students confidently and skilfully performing in front of a large audience. I was impressed that students who used to hide behind the rocks or hang their heads with shyness were up on stage singing or playing instruments with poise and self-assurance. Their enjoyment was evident in the glimmer in their eyes and the smiles on their faces. Congratulations to all performers for their dedication to practising and contributing positively and co-operatively to their groups and to Mr Melrose for his passionate stewardship of the band program. It is a very special feature of Darlington Primary School.”
