Dress Code Policy
Darlington Primary has a Sun Smart School Dress Code, as endorsed by School Council in 2015. Our Dress Code is compulsory for P-6 students (optional but encouraged for our Kindergarten students).
Enrolment Policy
The Department of Education has designated Darlington Primary as a local intake school. As a Local Area intake school it is important that you are aware of the enrolment processes.
Homework Policy
Homework can be a means of furthering school-home relationships and can assist in keeping parents informed about the students’ learning program and progress. Homework’s value is largely as a tool to develop the capacity of students.
ICT Guidelines and Internet Usage Policy
Our school has access to the online services provided by the Department of Education. These increase the range of teaching tools available to staff and will enhance the opportunities available to students.
Positive Behaviour and Engagement Plan
Department of Education schools provide every student with the educational support the student needs to learn and maintain positive behaviour.
Extreme Weather Procedure
Heatwaves
A heatwave is a period of abnormally and uncomfortable hot weather:
That is unusual for the location which impacts human health, infrastructure and services.
Factors that affect the impact of a heatwave include:
- Maximum daily temperatures and minimum night temperatures
- Duration of extreme temperatures
- Humidity and air quality
- Urban and rural design
- Local acclimatisation
- Successive heat events
The Bureau of Meteorology issues heatwave warnings through weather notifications. The Department of Health monitors the notifications, assesses the potential health impacts and issues alerts when specific triggers are met.
If a heatwave alert is likely to affect health outcomes, the education regional office will advise schools. If we receive such advice we will:
- Invoke our hot weather plan according to the Department of Health WA.
- Consider the welfare of students and staff during the heatwave period
- Consider suspending or modifying outdoor activities during the heatwave period
- Contact venue operators to ensure plans are in place to deal with heatwave conditions if an excursion is planned
- Monitor for updates to the advice on Emergency WA.
A decision to close any school is made by the Deputy Director General Schools in consultation with the director of education.
